After the first night in Nairobi at Eka Hotel, bush and game adventure shall start on your second day in Kenya. After breakfast, you shall be picked up by our driver guide in a 4X4 Land cruiser to Amboseli National Park. This trip shall take approximately three hours.
Amboseli National park; referred to as ‘HOME OF THE AFRICAN ELEPHANT’, is crowned by Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak. Amboseli is a Maasai word meaning ‘Salty dust’ and it is one of the best places in Africa to view large herds of elephants up close. At Amboseli, one can explore different habitats including but not limited to the dried-up bed of Lake Amboseli, wetlands with Sulphur springs, the savannah, and woodlands. There is an observation hill that allows the view of the whole park, swamp, and elephants. The swamp below the observation hill is a host to many Elephants, hippos, waterfowls like; pelicans, and Flamingos, Egyptian goose, etc. Other game present includes Leopards, cheaters, wild dog, giraffe, crocodiles, Mongoose, Hyrax, dik-dik, lesser kudu and nocturnal porcupines. The park has recorded over 600 species of birdlife. Amboseli Bush Camp/Zebra Plains will be the host of all these adventures/experiences.
On day three, we shall depart from Amboseli after Breakfast, do a game drive as you exit Amboseli for Nairobi. Probably you will arrive at Nairobi in the afternoon, check-in the hotel dinner and relax for the early departure the following day for Maasai Mara National Reserve. Zebra Plains Lodge/Loyk Mara Lodge shall be your host for three nights that you will be there.
Maasai Mara National Reserve, situated in the south-west of Kenyan Rift valley, is one of Africa’s greatest wildlife reserve. Together with Serengeti National Park in Tanzania, it forms Africa’s most diverse, incredible and most spectacular ecosystem and possibly the world’s top safari big game viewing eco-system. Renowned for its exceptional wildlife across the vast plains of the Mara.
It is favored with the four terrains; Ngama Hills, eastward with sand soil & leafy bushes favoring black rhinos, Oloololo Escarpment, forming the western boundary rising to magnificent plateaus, Mara Triangle, bordering Mara river with lush grasslands & woodlands for masses of game and wildebeest, and Central Plains, the largest part of the reserve, scattered bushes, boulders, and rolling grasslands which attracts the plains game. It is here that the marvelous migration takes place annually that was listed among the seven natural wonders of the world. Most animals sighted in this migrations are about 1.5 million wildebeests, 0.5 million Thomson Gazelles, 0.2 million Zebras, 97,000 Topis and about 18,000 Elands. The migration is readily sighted on every visit but we cannot guarantee to sight the spectacular Mara river crossing because that is a natural occurrence unknown when and at what part of the river it will happen.
With morning and afternoon game drives, we are sure that you will have satisfied your quest to sight all these experiences as far as the trip is concerned. The stay here will be blended with guided bush walks, a sun-downer, and a cultural village visit to learn a little about Maasai community
On day Six, we will depart Mara for Naivasha and check-in Mundui House. It is a holiday house nestled in the volcanic hills and open grasslands on the edge of Lake Naivasha and shores of Lake Oloidein, within the animals’ rights reserve (ARA) private wildlife sanctuary. The oldest house around Lake Naivasha yet one of the most beautiful with a touch of luxury house offering privacy that one would require. It has hosted prominent people including Facebook Founder-Mark Zuckerberg, Ernest Hemmingway, Winston Churchill among others. You shall enjoy game drives in a private sanctuary, guided nature walks, boat rides, a visit to the animal rehabilitation center, bird watching among other activities. We can’t promise to do all these activities at Mundui house due to time factor, but we are sure most of the excursions here highlighted can be done.
On day eight, we intend to check out late from Mundui house, at 10 am as you drive slowly along the rift valley escarpment to Nairobi, a stopover on the way for lunch and buying of souvenirs for your trip memories. You shall be dropped at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your international flight check-in depending on your flight departure time details.
